Job summary
We are looking to employ a hardworking, conscientious individual who will work as Team Administrator within the the mental health team at HMP Deerbolt.
HM Prison Deerbolt is a male Category C Training Prison in Barnard Castle.
You will be responsible for providing a high quality, flexible, administrative and secretarial support. The post holder will have joint responsibility for coordinating the day-to-day running of the service whilst ensuring work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
We are looking for an individual who is capable of complimenting the current service provision, has the ability to work under pressure. Working Hours are 8am - 4pm Mon-Fri.
You will be required to work at HMP Deerbolt and undertake prison clearance.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will ideally have an awareness of mental health issues and will be able to demonstrate a caring and sensitive approach to their work. They will have an eye for detail and a high degree of accuracy. They will be able to effectively and clearly communicate with colleagues, service users, their families and acute trust colleagues.
As a team player, you'll be able to prioritise your work in order to meet deadlines and have a patient focused approach. Previous experience of working within the NHS is desirable but not essential, as full induction will be provided.
You are required to have NVQ Level 3 in relevant field or equivalent experience (or willingness to achieve within an agreed timescale) good standard of English and Mathematics; experience of working in a busy administrative environment and be proficient in the use of MSOffice with experience of patient records systems.
The prison mental health teams use system 1 and training will be provided.

Qualifications
Essential
- Level 3 Qualification in relevant field or equivalent experience or willingness to work towards Level 3 qualification in Leadership and Management.
- Key skills/functional skills in literacy and numeracy Level 2 OR O Level (Grade C and above/New GCSE in Maths and English (Grade 4 to 9) are an essential requirement to be fully competent in the role. Where an applicant does not have the above qualifications or are unable to provide evidence of the certification, the applicant MUST achieve the required standards during their probationary period
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working in an administrative environment (diary management, filing systems, meeting coordination, minute talking, data input, collating and presenting information).
- Customer Service experience (face to face, answering calls, correspondence).
- Experience of organising completing demands and workloads
- Experience of setting up and maintenance of administrative systems and processes.
- Experience of working autonomously and proactively.
Knowledge
Essential
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Understanding of data protection and the need for confidentiality and how to maintain this.
- Knowledge of office systems and processes
