Job summary

We are looking for a Wellbeing Practitioner to join the team at Compass Be. The role will support children and young people in educational and community settings to work towards improving there mental health and emotional wellbeing. A caseload of children and young people will be held to supporting team around the family, completing early help assessments and working alongside other professionals to achieve mutual goals. The interventions include 1-1 psychoeducation which is designed around individual need to accessing wellbeing support.

Main duties of the job

You will have experience or a passion to work with children with adverse childhood experiences and special education needs. You will have experience of delivering direct wellbeing support this could include psychoeducational workshops, 1-1 direct interventions, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and support/care planning.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting service development and embedding services within education and community settings in Barnsley. The will hold a caseload for children and young people with ACES or SEN. This involves the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care for the parent or carer of the child or young person.

The post holder is also responsible for developing and disseminating packages of care. The care may include a variety of interventions to children and young people and work with parents and teaching staff on an individual and in a group setting. They also offer specialist support, consultation and training to staff within the service and other agencies where appropriate.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualification in mental health or working with children & young people such as Youth Work, Social Work, Psychology, counselling, or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • One years relevant post qualification experience
  • Relevant experience of working with children or young people
  • Working with vulnerable groups
  • Inter-agency and multi-disciplinary working

Desirable

  • Advocacy, offering guidance and mentoring support
  • Involving children and young people and their families in design, delivery and development of services
  • Engaging in supervision
