Location: Harrogate The Integrated Passenger Transport Operations Team is responsible for the safe and efficient use of over one hundred vehicles to transport people in North Yorkshire. The team comprises approximately 340 drivers and passenger assistants that operate at locations throughout North Yorkshire.
The team delivers approximately 250,000 passenger journeys per year including 20,000 wheelchair user journeys.
The transport provided enables people to access schools, day centres, learning opportunities, supported employment and other meaningful activities in our community. You will be responsible for the safety of passengers during these journeys and will ensure that the passengers board and alight safely as well as ensuring that any safety equipment is used correctly. Full training in the use of all safety equipment will be provided.
You will need good communication skills as you will liaise daily with school and centre staff, Parents, carers and colleagues.
Experience is not essential: however some experience of driving minibus type vehicles or working in a similar role would be an advantage for this post. We are looking for a caring, flexible and committed person to help transport clients that require additional support to get to and from a range of different venues.
The role requires the flexibility to work split shifts across 5 days on a Monday to Saturday basis as required.
This Driver post is based in Harrogate and it is a Relief Post on a term-time-only basis. Please note that the salary advertised is the full-time equivalent rate.
All Drivers require a D1 driving licence entitlement.
We offer a comprehensive training package including Minibus Driver Awareness Training Scheme (MIDAS), Basic First Aid and Managing Challenging Behaviour. Leave entitlement starts at 28 days per year (pro-rata for part time) increasing to 34 days in year 5, plus bank holidays, Successful Candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) background check. ***DBS*** Enhanced Level DBS Disclosure is required for appointment to this post.
