About the Role:
The Markets Officer role is to ensure the markets are managed safely and in line with policy. You will work with existing stakeholders and help bring new stakeholders to the town market. You will support with the development of the markets.
As a Markets Officer, you will work 3 days a week (Monday, Wednesday morning and Saturday) ensuring the smooth running of Thirsk Market. The role is a mixture of in person problem solving and administration.
You will also support the markets operations, providing resilience if the markets officers are off (currently have 7 markets across the district)- this will mean working with the traders and members of the public to ensure the market is run smoothly and safely. Operational cover across all sites as required, from covering the market (as above) to supporting with the events. Events support includes financial support, attending events to ensure that they are set appropriately and stewarding events the Games
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Administration of the market - new bookings, customer relationship management with existing traders, dealing with complaints.
- Managing the weekly charter markets across the county, as allocated.
- Taking payment for the markets - direct debits - card payments - invoice raising - completing refunds.
- Day to day market supervision.
