Salary: £41,258 to £44,678 per year (Grade 8) Annual Pay award pending
Contract: Permanent, Full-time, 40 hours a week
Location: Northallerton with travel to sites across North Yorkshire
Are you a highway construction professional looking for a new challenge? NY Highways is seeking an NEC Supervisor to manage and supervise our highway maintenance and capital projects under the NEC 4 contract framework. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the quality and safety of our projects.
The Role:
As an NEC Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of highway maintenance and capital projects, ensuring compliance with specifications, health, safety, and environmental regulations. Your responsibilities will include conducting regular site inspections, audits, and measurements to maintain construction quality and ensure timely contractor payments. You will keep accurate records of site activities, including daily logs and inspection reports, and ensure contractors adhere to their agreed work programmes.
You will lead and motivate on-site teams, develop health and safety plans, and collaborate with partner organisations and stakeholders. Acting as the primary contact for NEC 4 contract administration, you will be involved with early warnings, compensation events, and change management. You will enforce quality control procedures to meet client and regulatory standards and address any defective works.
About You:
To be successful in this role, it is important that you have experience in highway construction or related activities. Essential qualifications include Traffic Management TM1, TM2, and T7 certifications, with a willingness to undertake SSSTS, SMSTS, or CSCS if not already held. A good understanding of Quality Assurance and working knowledge of The Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works.
Key skills required include problem-solving, evidence-based decision-making, strong communication skills to influence and motivate others, and the ability to work collaboratively with employees and stakeholders. You must be able to operate using initiative within agreed procedures and accurately complete both paper and electronic record sheets. Proficiency in MS Office and project management software is essential.
