The Gatehouse has a clear vision; to promote independence, dignity and individuality for all in their care and are looking for a Senior Care Assistant to help them achieve these. As a Senior Care Assistant, you will report to the care team leader and home manager. The Senior Care Assistant will lead by example, promote the delivery of person-centred care, lead shifts, mentor and supervise Care Assistants, ensuring the residents receive the highest standards of Care. They are seeking someone who prioritises kindness above all else, and is a great team player.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, dignified personal care
  • Lead shifts and lead others by best practice example
  • Mentor staff and promote the Care Ambassador programme - This is the way
  • Create, maintain & review accurate individual care plans for Residents.
  • Ensure medication is kept secure and given according to prescription.
  • Supervise medicine regime of self-medicating Residents.
  • Keep accurate records of medication ordering, receipt, administration and disposal.
  • Ensure correct disposal of contaminated materials and sharp instruments.
  • Liaise with medical practitioners and other healthcare professionals, keeping your supervisor informed.
  • Communicate with all colleagues any changes regarding Residents, i.e. admissions, discharges, diet etc.
  • Contribute to the personal, physical, emotional and environmental contentment of each Resident.
  • Escort Residents for hospital appointments, dental appointments and shopping etc. as appropriate.
  • Food preparation, preparing meals, drinks & snacks, assisting with feeding, as required.
  • Have a knowledge of and comply with the Fundamental Care Standards as defined by the Care Quality Commission.

Previous care experience is essential for this role.
