About Us: At North Yorkshire Council, we take pride in maintaining our social housing portfolio of approximately 8,000 homes to the highest standards. The Housing Standards team is passionate about providing safe, compliant, and well-maintained homes for our residents. The Direct Delivery Team is responsible for the procurement and contract management of contractors for reactive repairs and maintenance of the housing stock and new build construction, across the Richmond, Selby and Harrogate areas. The team are also responsible for the procurement and contract management of Housing Standards Fleet Vehicles, Uniform & PPE & Service Level Agreements with other NYC departments. We're seeking talented Contract Supervisors to join our team and help us achieve excellence in service delivery and quality. For the mid and senior level posts, we are looking for candidates who have previous experience in a housing maintenance role such as a clerk of works, contract manager or surveyor for example.
Your New Role: As a Contract Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in procuring and managing contractor-delivered projects, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance. We are hiring for both Entry, Mid and Senior Level positions, each offering opportunities to contribute to meaningful work and advance your career.
Senior-Level Contract Supervisor
About the Role: At the Senior-Level, you will be responsible for developing new contracts and leading in the procurement process, liaising with procurement and legal to resolve any significant contractual matters, day to day contract management on high value and complex contracts.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Contract Oversight: Manage the day-to-day aspects of high value contracts, ensuring performance meets or exceeds expectations.
- Site Inspections: Conduct visits to verify quality of work and adherence to safety protocols.
- Team Liaison: Work closely with contractors, internal departments, and external service providers to maintain efficient operations.
- Health & Safety: reviewing risk assessments and method statements to ensure suitable processes are in place
- Develop Contracts: Contribute to the creation of new contracts, incorporating lessons learned and working closely with procurement teams.
- Training & Mentorship: Assist and mentor Entry & Mid-Level colleagues as needed, sharing knowledge and best practices.
What We're Looking For:
- Essential: IWFM Level 4, IOSH Managing Safely, Prince2 Practitioner (or willingness to work towards these). Strong experience in contract management and performance oversight.
- Desirable: Experience in social housing or construction sectors, project management knowledge.
- Personal Attributes: Proactive, a strong problem solver, good negotiation skills, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
