Social Worker - Whitby Area (069079)

North Yorkshire County Council

Job Description

Salary: £37,035 to £41,511 per annum

Grade: JK

Contract Type: Permanent

Vacancy Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Whitby Area

We work in adult social care to make a difference and change lives - join us and do exactly that! We are currently looking for a Social Worker to join our busy team in the Whitby area on a full-time basis, permanent contract. There's no better time to start a career with North Yorkshire Council - the time for change and innovative approaches to delivering care is something you could be part of! As a Social worker, you will be based at Whitby, but you will be able to adopt a hybrid approach, working from both home and the office base at Whitby Highways.

The core focus of this job is to help adults who have social care needs to maintain their independence and to keep them safe. You will carry out reviews of people who already have care and also assess people under the Care Act 2014, who have been referred to Adult Social Care and need support putting into place. So, we are looking for someone with significant previous experience of either the health or social care sector and it is also essential to have a Social Work degree, along with Social Work England registration.

It is important that you have good communication skills as we work closely with colleagues from health, housing, education, and the independent sector care agencies. The Whitby team works with people who have no support in place, who have carers who are under significant stress and sometimes there is a need to respond urgently in order to manage risks and keep people safe. Where people do not meet eligibility, you will be expected to signpost people to other relevant services and support, and so an awareness of local resources will be an advantage.

We are looking for someone who understands the importance of dignity and respect, who is professional and well organised, but also someone who is creative, thoughtful, and positive about helping people to make real change to their own lives. It is also important that you have good IT skills as you will need to record details of people's care needs on computer records in a clear, concise, and timely way.

In return we can offer you: The opportunity to develop knowledge, experience, and skills with a leading care provider Professional support and supervision from your nominated team manager and relevant training. The challenge of complex and varied work through a manageable caseload. Opportunity to work in different specialisms The chance to be part of a committed and supportive team Access a range of benefits including generous leave entitlement, flexible working, a local government pension scheme, salary sacrifice and employee discount benefits access health and well-being advice and support for you and your family The ability to utilise new technology enabling modern ways of working and supportive flexible working. So, if you would like to be at the forefront of innovative care practice, we would like to hear from you!
