About Us

The SEN Support Service (SENSS) is responsible for early intervention and statutory duties in relation to SEN. SENSS supports and empowers children and young people, their schools, settings and families, sharing good practice in relation to different needs.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant for a 5 day a week position (32.5 hours per week) working in the specialist resource base at Lord William's School for children with Autism and Communication and Interaction needs.

Our Teaching Assistants provide flexible, individualised support to children with communication and interaction differences (including Autism) to help overcome barriers to learning in order to:

  • maximise independence;
  • foster wellbeing;
  • promote learning and success;
  • facilitate full inclusion in the academic and social aspects of school life.

Working under the guidance of specialist teachers, this includes supporting learning in mainstream lessons and through individual and small group interventions delivered in the base, as well as supporting social inclusion and social interaction in unstructured times of the school day and for extra-curricular activities.

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 5 days (32.5 per week)

Grade: Grade 6, Scale Points 8 - 13

Starting Salary: FTE £25,992- £28,163

About you

Our ideal candidate has a positive and encouraging manner, highly developed communication skills and the ability to remain calm in difficult situations. You need to be open to learning and to have a commitment to inclusion for children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
