Please note this is a permanent role which will be working on our evening shift 2pm-10pm Tuesday - Saturday.
Our First Line Managers play a crucial role in the smooth operation of our Distribution Centre. They lead a team of Warehouse Assistants with enthusiasm, embodying our values to keep the team motivated, engaged, and committed to delivering high-quality work that meets key performance indicators (KPIs).
Collaboration is essential in this role, as you will work closely with other First Line Managers and Team Managers across all Logistics functions to achieve shared goals. Additionally, you will foster a culture of fairness, respect, and proactive people management, ensuring a positive and productive working environment.
This role is based at Cardrew Industrial Estate in Redruth, Cornwall.
You'll help us by;
You'll lead a diverse team to deliver consistent strong performance through coaching, development, and fair, transparent leadership. Taking ownership of people management, you'll hold monthly one to ones with a focus on performance, engagement and employee well-being. You'll resolve any issues promptly and effectively, following policy and procedure to minimise the risk of formal escalation. In addition, you'll proactively manage resource planning within your team, ensuring budget control and minimising overspend on wages.
Maintaining high visibility on the warehouse floor, you'll promote a positive and professional work environment. You'll also champion health and safety and ensure this is always met. Conducting structured daily briefs to the team, you'll ensure information is communicated clearly, concisely, and in a way that engages the team.
Managing the allocation of work daily, you'll ensure all channels are operationally achieved and delivery targets are consistently met. You'll prepare and complete shift handover documents fully, ensuring accurate and timely tracking of key operational data. Acting as a key point of contact for communication with administration, stock, and management teams to proactively resolve operational issues.
Where necessary, you'll deputise for the DC Shift Manager when required and demonstrating flexibility in covering other logistics functions as needed (e.g., eBay, Intake, Wholesale).

- An experienced team manager with a proven track record of leading teams, improving performance, and creating a positive and inclusive workplace.
- Demonstrable experience in people management, including handling performance, attendance, and engagement.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills.
- Confidence in leading difficult conversations and proactively addressing people issues before they escalate.
- A strong ability to motivate, develop, and inspire a team to consistently deliver operational excellence.
- Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to build trust within the team.
