As a Senior Manager - Development and Automation, you'll lead and unify our development teams, driving innovation and efficiency across our Adobe Commerce Cloud and Azure platforms.

You'll play a key part in implementing shared development principles, standardising tools and workflows, and leading automation initiatives across the software development lifecycle. Working closely with our Operations team, you'll ensure seamless integration between development, operational effectiveness, and BAU processes, delivering scalable, high-quality solutions.

This opportunity will allow you to foster collaboration and enhance efficiency within our technology teams, while working cross-functionally across the organisation.

This role is a full-time, permanent position based remotely within the UK with occasional travel to Cornwall when needed. Please note that we are not able to provide visa sponsorship, and you must reside in the UK.

You'll help us by:

Proving technical leadership within our technology function, you'll ensure best practices are adopted, optimised, and embedded across our development teams. You'll manage cross-functional development teams across multiple platforms, including Adobe Commerce Cloud and Azure. Leading the Development team, you'll work closely with them to plan and prioritise workloads, set clear objectives, and provide coaching and mentorship. By fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture, you will empower the team to succeed and continuously improve while ensuring seamless collaboration and efficiency.

You'll play a key role in ensuring the resilience, security, and scalability of all Seasalt systems and services, overseeing the development, deployment, and support of high-quality solutions. A key focus will be driving automation across development and testing processes to enhance performance, reliability, and speed to market.

Taking a technical leadership role in release processes, automated deployment workflows and DevOps, you'll optimise the speed of releases into production and enhance deployment reliability and system performance, driving a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Collaborating with Operations teams and working cross-functionally across the business, you'll optimise workflows, stay ahead of industry trends, and oversee end-to-end software development projects, ensuring alignment with business requirements, quality standards and deadlines.

Managing departmental budgets, you will allocate resources efficiently and optimise technology expenses to ensure cost-effective and high-quality solutions. Overseeing third-party development, you'll ensure all external contributions align with Seasalt's processes, standards, quality, and cost expectations.

The skills you'll be sharing with the team:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field

or equivalent professional experience.

  • A background in web development with proficiency in Magento and PHP.
  • Demonstrated experience leading development teams in both Adobe Commerce Cloud and Azure environments.
  • Proven experience in managing diverse development teams.
  • Proven experience working with Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide and mentor developers, providing direct feedback on code quality and development approaches.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Commerce Cloud development, Azure, and DevOps practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience working in an Agile matrix structure.
