As a member of the Theatre Services team within Culture, Leisure and Tourism, you will support the achievement of these key priorities, making a real difference to the lives of people in Shropshire. Overview of your role To undertake Front of House security, concierge and stewarding duties and to provide first aid care for staff and patrons of Theatre Severn. To act as a key holder and duty manager for specific building opening times. To provide a high standard of customer service and to assist with the creation of an exciting, welcoming, and friendly environment for theatre patrons. Predominantly evenings and weekend work. Key Responsibilities • To support the Front of House team by providing SIA door supervisor services and be responsible for the security of the theatre during performances, customer welcome, stewarding duties, housekeeping and maintenance support, and other services that can be reasonably expected of this role, as directed by the Duty Manager. • To provide first aid to any patrons, staff, or visitors at Theatre Severn, as required. • To be responsible for key holder duties, including managing the building with customers- acting as responsible person for fire evacuation and responsible for the building. • To support the Duty Manager in event management and management of the building. • To thoroughly understand and play an active role in Theatre Severn's Fire, Security, and Emergency Action Plans. • To support the Duty Manager in fulfilling the requirements of the Theatre Premises License. • To work in a safe and legal way to comply with regulatory and legislative requirements. Who will your manager be and what will you be responsible for? You will be: ▪ Reporting to the Operations Manager who is in turn responsible for your health and safety, training, and development. ▪ Responsible for completing within expected timescales all mandatory corporate and role specific training. Training requirements will be detailed in your corporate induction and Personal Development Plan (PDP). Courses are accessed via the council Learning Management System via the Intranet. What will you be doing? • To support the Front of House team by providing SIA door supervisor services and be responsible for the security of the theatre during performances, customer welcome, stewarding duties, housekeeping and maintenance support and other services that can be reasonably expected of this role, as directed by the Duty Manager. • To provide first aid to any patrons, staff, or visitors at Theatre Severn, as required. • To be responsible for key holder duties, including managing the building with customers- acting as responsible person for fire evacuation and responsible for the building. • To support the duty manager in event management and management of the building. • To thoroughly understand and play an active role in Theatre Severn's Fire, Security, and Emergency Action Plans. • To support the Duty Manager in fulfilling the requirements of the Theatre Premises License. • To undertake, on a shift rota basis, the role of a Security Steward. • To work in a safe and legal way to comply with regulatory and legislative requirements. • To be familiar with all parts of the Theatre, its public facilities, and services in order to assist patrons as necessary. To be on duty in the main entrance foyer to welcome and direct patrons. • To be the welcoming face of the theatre, ensuring that bag and ticket checks are conducted in a friendly and professional manner. • To ensure all suspicious behaviour is reported to the Duty Manager. • Undertake the control and removal of persons from the auditorium and any other part of the building when necessary, in conjunction with the Duty Manager and stewards. • Ensure that at the end of performances the auditorium is vacated and checked with particular regard to fire safety before locking all doors. • To remain on duty in the foyer until all the general public have left the building and Front of House locking up is completed. • To be completely familiar with the emergency evacuation procedure and to attend emergency practice drills and training sessions as required. • To assist with any deliveries of goods, items such as confectionery, programmes, ice creams and advertising materials and to distribute such deliveries to their correct storage places. • To attend regular staff training sessions as and when required. • To report all accidents, incidents, loss and damage. • To promote Theatre Severn by direct contact with customers. • To provide accurate and up to date information for the public. • Undertake any other such relevant duties as directed by The Operations Manager and nominated Duty Managers. • To carry out any other duties which are commensurate with the salary and Designation of the post, subject to any reasonable adjustment under the Equality Act 2010. • To drive your own career and skills development, making the most of the opportunities made available to you. • Undertake the control and removal of persons from the auditorium and any other part of the building, when necessary, in conjunction with the Duty Manager and staff. • Regularly review the post and its job description so that it reflects the changing needs of the service with Operations Manager. What are your conditions of Service The conditions of service are those laid down by Shropshire Council, which have been adopted and amended as necessary from those laid down by the National Joint Council for Local Government Services. You will be based at Theatre Severn with some potential work at other locations across Shropshire Council venues. Your post is subject to the following: ▪ The post is Casual. ▪ Working hours are varied, subject to the Theatre's schedule of events. The Theatre's opening hours are usually across 7 days between 10am-midnight. Evening, weekend, and bank holiday work is essential. Shifts will be allocated on a rota basis. This post carries eligibility to join the Local Government Pension Scheme. Information about this will be sent with any formal offer of appointment. Annual leave entitlement is as follows: In accordance with the working time directive, you will accrue an entitlement to annual leave, in direct proportion to the hours you work, with effect from appointment. On a quarterly basis we will calculate the annual leave due and advise you accordingly. The appointment is subject to one month's notice in writing on either side. The appointment is subject to six months' satisfactory probationary service during which time the notice period will be one week on either side. Smoking is not allowed in Council buildings, in Council vehicles or in any Council place of work. It is a condition of your appointment that you provide a suitable vehicle for the performance of your duties and that this is readily available for use during normal working hours. You are entitled to claim for reimbursement of the costs of travel on council business at the rate of 45 pence per mile. What pre-employment checks will we undertake?
