Primary Job Function
To provide a professional mechanical engineering service with particular focus on maintaining the Housing BMS platforms remotely.
Key responsibilities
1. To oversee the existing BMS platforms which the council has installed and to ensure work repair orders are raised for any breakdowns in a timely manner.
2. To work with internal and external engineers to ensure plant and equipment connected to the BMS system are in good working order and operating in line with council strategy.

3. To provide input on mechanical and BMS strategy, and to provide input on any changes which may be required to existing BMS strategies
4. To undertake commissioning reports of new installations to ensure installations are operating in line with system design criteria.
5. Analysis of existing BMS platform to help effectively and efficiently control plant and equipment in the council plantrooms and working closely with other engineers to ensure the graphics, software and control panels that comprise the larger BMS are identifying correctly how plant is performing.
6. To provide technical representation and performance reports of the communal heating system where required for committees, area forums, working parties, client organisations, tenant associations, external agencies and other project stakeholders of system.
7. To arrange and attend stakeholder meetings as required.
8. Represent the Snr Mechanical Engineer with clients and other stakeholders.
9. Deliver and maintain the highest standards of contract administration, design and budget control on all projects while ensuring stakeholders are kept fully briefed and engaged on all aspects of each project.
10. Ensure effective briefing, direction and liaison and appointment of any consultants who may be required.
3. Lead on the procurement, design and preparation of schemes, specification, maintenance requirements, and estimates along with the project and contract management.
4. Keeping up to date with the latest new build standards including Building Regulations, Planning Policy, Sustainable Design and any other standards relevant to this area of work.
5. Provide assistance and advice to technicians and site Inspectors regarding the performance of the BMS installation.
6. Act as lead officer on feasibility studies, viability and for adherence to Islington Council Standards, Policies and Practices.
8. Undertake site inspections and site visits as and when required to ensure the BMS system is working correctly and it is achieving the control requirements and standards as required
9. Review tenders, specifications, accounts, claims and contract variations submitted by contractors for accuracy. Authorise / investigate further as appropriate.
9. Liaise with other departments concerning design, maintenance and user satisfaction feedback. Prepare lessons learnt report where required. Provide reports on areas for improvement and recommendations for implementation.
10. Undertake investigations, continued professional development and research concerning new techniques, systems and solutions in Engineering Services.
11. Manage and monitor all projects within fee allocation and budget available and take corrective measures where required.
12. Advise on the appraisal, selection, appointment and performance of contractors and sub-contractors.
13. Take responsibility for the project management of medium/ large sized projects and/or maintenance contracts which could include Heat Metering Projects.
14. Carry out project management duties which may involve supervising the work of other staff within the project team.
