About the roleWe have a new opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our Investment Planning & Commercial team on permanent basis.

The successful Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the management of the commercial activity across our planned investment programmes for the South East, South Central and South West regions, some travel is essential for the role. The role is required to monitor expenditure, including cash flow forecasts, financial statements, calculation of monthly payments and accruals, preparation of interim and final accounts and associated commercial performance information in line with good practice and in accordance with relevant policies and procedures.

The role will provide excellent customer service by working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders including external delivery partners, suppliers and consultants.

The successful Quantity Surveyor will work collaboratively with our Investment Planning, Commercial, Planned Investment Delivery & Support Teams.

  • Quantity surveying experience within a similar organisation and asset maintenance teams.
  • Proven experience of providing excellent customer services.
  • Experience of cost management, framework contracts and commercial management of contracts using a schedule of rates.
  • Experience of developing, preparing and issuing performance reports.
  • Experience and effectiveness in negotiating costs and contract terms with contractors.
  • Good knowledge of building construction and repair techniques, related current legislation and regulations.
  • Knowledge of the CDM regulations and other Health and Safety Legislation
  • Proven ability to provide accurate and clear communications in writing, face to face or by telephone.
  • Effective planning and organisational skills.
  • Experience of overseeing contractors delivering multi discipline projects and ensuring Health & Safety requirements are followed.
  • Excellent IT skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft Office particularly Excel, Word, Powerpoint, housing and property management systems.
  • Experience of programme delivery, financial monitoring and control.
  • Ability to work remotely, take initiatives when required and work in conjunction with other QS team members.
  • Ability to monitor projects and report to the Senior QS on a regular basis.
