Facilities Technician/ CarpenterLocation: THORPE PARK Resort, KT16 8PNHours: 40 hours a week, Weekend work needed. Salary: Competitive
This is a hands-on role that will require all repairs, installations and modifications to the park's assets and infrastructure to be maintained to the highest standard, inclusive of necessary trades codes of conduct and guidance, to ensure compliance with current legislation and company policies.
- Working outdoors, when required, through all weather conditions throughout the year.
- Working at heights will be required
- Requirement to use and wear appropriate personal protective clothing
- Versatile, flexible approach towards shifts is required as Thorpe Park Resort is a 7-day operation and a flexible approach to weekend/public bank holidays if business needs require this
Responsibilities:
To provide an efficient timed response to all maintenance issues, consisting of proactive, reactive, health & safety and emergency requests.
Work to maintenance schedules ensuring high standards of product availability, operational presentation and customer satisfaction. Respond to "FM" calls and conduct handover for the Facilities Management and operational DDMs.
Act as liaison for external suppliers and contractors to ensure clear line of communication and speedy resolution to problems.
To develop a good working relationship with all departments' personnel, external contractors, suppliers and customers.
Regularly assist in the review and audit of health & safety practices and procedures to ensure safe operation of all equipment and plant.
To carry out maintenance tasks competently, to the satisfaction of the customer and within the specified timescale.
Ensure all contractors comply with relevant legislation, codes of practice and company H&S procedures.
To ensure that the agreed winter works maintenance program is followed to ensure maximum availability for all facilities functions prior to park opening.
Employees are responsible for all aspects of Health, Safety & Security within their team, in line with the Group Policy (HS001) and the law.
To ensure contractors comply with all relevant legislation, codes of practice and company procedures.
To ensure that any potential health and safety hazards are dealt with as quickly as possible and reported as necessary. Promote safe working environments by encouraging the reporting of near misses.
Qualifications & Experience
Skilled in Carpentry/Joinery Level 2, 3 OR Skilled in Building & Ground Works
At least 3 years minimum of experience
Agile in approach and a keen problem solver, able to react quickly to operational challenges
Excellent communications skills
Medically fit to operate and carry out manual duties (specifically eyesight, hearing and mobility)
The ability to develop and motivate others
Enthusiastic, passionate and positive towards the company values
Knowledge of the history of the Thorpe Park site
Agile in approach and a keen problem solver, able to react quickly to operational challenges
Proven ability to enforce policy & procedural compliance
High standards and acute attention to detail with a proven track record of driving improvement and hitting targets
Confident in making high pressure decisions
Previously worked with CAFM Systems
Previous experience of the maintenance environment within the theme park/leisure industry
Experience of the use of CAFM systems
Experience of planned preventative maintenance systems of work
Full UK Driving Licence

This role is a full-time role, averaging 40 hours per week. Although this is largely a Monday-Friday role, due to the nature of the business this will include weekends, bank holidays and some late evenings as required.
