We are looking for a Family Support Advisor to work alongside our DSL. The postholder will work directly with our families and will focus their work on preventative and early intervention activities, signposting and referring to agencies and services as appropriate. A background or experience in safeguarding and child protection is desirable.
All about the role:
The main responsibilities will include:
- To understand the rights and responsibilities of parents and carers to raise their children, and support them, through providing appropriate information or referral to specialist services. Experience of leading groups, surgeries and courses is desirable.
- To work with parents/carers in a school context, supporting them and building their engagement with their child's learning.
- To identify with parents/carers reasons for the child's non-attendance and to work with them so their child regularly attends school.
- To take a professional lead in Early Support Assessments for identified families
- To work in partnership with colleagues and external agencies to support our families
- To support the DSL within the safeguarding and Child Protection team and take on the role of DDSL.
- To attend all relevant training and other CPD opportunities.
A successful applicant will:
- will require a good level of practical knowledge and skills in the area of communicating with and managing children's behaviour, and the ability to demonstrate these to parents/carers.
- Have well developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive and confidential issues are required.
- Have a commitment to working in partnership with staff, parents and the community to promote excellent learning opportunities for all
