Our Development Management Service is crucial in shaping Wiltshire's future by determining planning applications for new developments. While some decisions involve subjective judgment, we adhere strictly to legal and procedural guidelines to ensure compliance with legislation and policy. Our service supports the council's business plan by fostering new development, driving economic growth, and promoting environmental protection and sustainability.

These roles are structured so that employees can progress as they gain more education and experience.

Level 2 Planning Officer (£36,124 - £37,938 per annum)

You'll have a significant say in planning projects, working with communities and stakeholders to create meaningful new developments. You'll assess different planning applications and appeals, playing a key role in shaping Wiltshire's landscape. You'll handle various planning, waste, and listed building applications, showing you can work well with little supervision. Role description and person specification

Level 1 Planning Officer (£30,559 - £32,654 per annum) you'll begin your career in planning by focusing on simpler planning applications. You'll also help senior colleagues with bigger projects. You'll make recommendations on straightforward planning applications and inquiries, while learning from experienced professionals. You'll help the team succeed while improving your skills.
