Salary: Grade D £24,404 - £25,183 (pro rata)

Hours of work: 37 hours per week or 19 hours per week (Full Time or Part Time option avaliable for the right candidate/s) Term Time Only (including staff training days)

A bit about us:

Kington St Michael CE Primary School is a happy and popular school in an attractive rural setting, where expectations are high and the school atmosphere, welcoming and happy. We are a small school, with 135 children on roll. We were recently inspected by OFSTED in February 2025, resulting in good and outstanding outcomes. We also received a wonderful inspection report during our visit from SIAMS in 2024.

All about the role:

We are seeking to appoint a cheerful, well-organised and hardworking, School Receptionist, to join our busy school office.

The successful candidate will be confident in providing a first point of contact for the school, welcoming visitors and liaising closely with staff, pupils and parents and should be committed to our inclusive and welcoming ethos. Applicants need to have inter-personal skills and be capable of responding flexibly to day-to-day pressures.

You will need to be able to work as part of our dedicated and happy team and have a sense of humour. As a School Receptionist you will work under the direction of our Headteacher and School Business Manager and will be required to carry out general office duties including:

  • Word processing a range of documents e.g. correspondence, newsletters and policies
  • Acting as a receptionist, dealing with telephone and in-person visitors, parent enquiries and deliveries
  • Photocopying work required by teachers, and work required by the Headteacher
  • Maintaining accurate records on the school management information system
  • Receiving payments for trips, photographs and donations
  • Banking duties
  • Overseeing the organisation of class and school trips
  • Managing the school diary and preparing the weekly diary sheet for all staff
  • Provide minor First Aid treatment, as required (subject to having received training)

Previous experience of working in a school environment and of using SIMS is preferable but not essential. We are looking for someone who is kind, cheerful, well organised and willing to learn.
