Job Description
You will be providing emotional support to adult patients, their relatives and NHS staff in the A&E department and in queuing ambulances. This role involves volunteering in a busy A&E department. We would like you to:- - Commit to a minimum of 6 hours at a time; ideally once a week but will consider once a fortnight - 10am-8pm Monday-Sunday, including bank holidays - Commit to volunteering for at least 6 months - Live within 45 minutes travel time of the hospital - Driving is preferable but not essential. If you drive, you must have held a driving licence for at least 2 years which allows you to drive in the UK - Help settle the service user in their own home - Be able to work in a pressurised environment (A&E) - Be able to be on your feet throughout the shift - Good access to the internet / IT equipment and to be able to use IT to complete the online & zoom onboarding processes. - Due to the nature of this role, applicants must undergo an Enhanced with Adults barred Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. - Are available to undertake approximately 11 hours of required e-learning modules and Zoom training sessions in the first few months of volunteering plus other plus further developmental service specific trainings as required.
