About Us: Devon and Cornwall Food Action (DCFA) is dedicated to rescuing surplus food from local businesses and redistributing it to individuals and families facing food insecurity. We promote sustainability and reduce food waste, making a real difference in our community. Every hour you spend with us means more food rescued and more families supported.

Role Overview: As a volunteer driver you are a crucial part of our team! You'll ensure food donations reach those in need.

Key responsibilities:

  • Safely transporting food items using a provided vehicle.
  • Following designated routes and schedules.
  • Assisting with loading and unloading food donations.
  • Completing driver's log and paperwork as required by DCFA policies and procedures.
  • Keeping the van tidy and reporting any issues or incidents.

The Skills and Qualities we are looking for:

  • A valid driver's license.
  • A positive, friendly attitude and the ability to work well in a team and independently.
  • Physical ability for manual handling tasks.
  • A passion for helping others and making a positive impact.
  • Adherence to health and safety policies.
  • Willingness to undertake training to support the role as necessary.

Commitment: We ask for a regular commitment of at least 4 hours a week to ensure consistency and to safeguard proper training.
