Family Support Volunteer

Job Description
Become a volunteer with Home-Start Bristol and South Gloucestershire to support families with children under 5 who are going through tough times. You'll receive training, build your skills and gain experience of working with families and children.
"We are looking for people who can give some of their spare time
and kindness to make a real difference to a family's life. Becoming a
volunteer can make an impact on a child that will last a lifetime."
Home-Start Bristol and South Gloucestershire works with families across Bristol and South Glos who have young children and who may be struggling to cope for a variety of reasons, including financial issues, food poverty, isolation, loneliness, multiple births, domestic violence or physical and mental health problems.
Our trained volunteers typically have parenting or childcare experience themselves and can reassure other parents as well as helping them with practical matters. Volunteers are managed by an experienced team and support the family either in their own home, once a week for a period of around six months, or at a group during term times.
Parents tell us it makes a huge difference to them and the lives of their children to have that support at a time of need. There is no 'typical' Home-Start family or Home-Start volunteer - our families and volunteers reflect the diverse communities we serve.
We run training courses throughout the year usually in January, April and September. These are held once a week on a weekday 9:30am - 2:30pm for six weeks. To find out more, call us on 0117 9501170, email admin@homestartbsg.org.uk, or visit our website https://homestartbsg.org.uk.
