Food Supply Coordinator

Poole Community Exchange

Job Description

We need a volunteer to expand our sources of free and low cost food for the Pantry and the Community Lunches.

Most our food currently comes through Neighbourly and Fareshare but the variety and quantity of food is becoming a problem. We need someone who can talk to local growers, wholesale suppliers and retailers, explain our work and persuade them to donate to us, or negotiate a bargain.

This can be a remote role.

Poole Community Exchange CIO (PCE) has a vision of an inclusive community where everyone is welcome, and everyone can share their gifts and meet their needs. There are 2 main projects - Poole Pantry and the Community Living Room and Kitchen. Poole Pantry provides food at a fraction of the retail price to those on a low income. It is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 11.45 until 1.15

The Community Living Room and Kitchen is a warm welcome space with activities and provides freshly cooked meals to all in return for a suggested donation. The Community meals are served Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12.15.

Activities include knit, crochet and natter, games, coffee morning, art group and tai chi. Tea, coffee and cake is available for a donation, and there is free Wifi and a space to chat.

Volunteering can help your wellbeing and can provide experience leading to paid work.
