Job Description

Manage a small team of crisis support volunteers, contribute to building crisis intervention protocols and be part of building a vital community support network.

What will you be doing?

As a Crisis Support Lead, you will play a vital role in managing and supporting a team of crisis support workers. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee crisis interventions, ensuring that individuals facing urgent challenges receive the necessary assistance while guiding your team to deliver effective support. We offer ongoing training and support to all of our volunteers, and will provide training and guidance to help you feel confident in your role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a small crisis support team.
  • Ensure clients in crisis receive immediate, empathetic, and effective support.
  • Develop and implement crisis intervention protocols.
  • Provide supervision and support to crisis support staff.
  • Ensure the crisis team receives ongoing training and maintains accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to enhance crisis services.
  • Maintain communication with board members to ensure staff have necessary support and resources.

While the core responsibilities of crisis coordination remain essential, there is flexibility in how you approach the role. Depending on your expertise and interests, you may also contribute to volunteer training, develop new support initiatives, or assist with awareness campaigns. We welcome your input in shaping how this role best serves those in need.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in team leadership, supervision, or staff support.
  • Background in mental health, social care, or a related field.
  • Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement crisis management protocols.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and mental health best practices.

What difference will you make?

As a Crisis Support Lead, your impact will be felt in multiple ways. By ensuring that crisis support workers are well-prepared and supported, you will improve the quality and effectiveness of crisis interventions. This will lead to better outcomes for individuals in distress, ensuring they receive the help they need when they need it most. Your leadership will also contribute to a more resilient and responsive crisis support team, creating a positive work environment and reducing burnout among staff and volunteers. Additionally, by collaborating with external agencies and refining intervention strategies, you will help strengthen the overall crisis response network, ensuring long-term improvements in how crises are managed and resolved.
