Digital & Marketing Volunteer for Specialty Coffee Social Enterprise!
- Reach Volunteering
- Part Time
- Brighton and Hove

Job Description
We're looking for a motivated, skilled and experienced volunteer to manage all things digital, and to communicate our work and impact to our network of existing and potential supporters.
What will you be doing?
The Uganda School Project (TUSP) is a small international development NGO, founded in 2016, focusing on primary school educational development in rural Uganda. The objective of the charity is to advance the education of children and young people in Uganda through the construction of educational facilities (e.g. classrooms), as well as capacity building programmes to improve the quality of educational delivery (e.g. teacher training programmes).
Mukisa Coffee was established in 2020 as a means to diversify income streams for the charity. We roast and sell specialty-grade Ugandan arabica coffee from the areas we work in, sourced ethically for smallholder farmers, with 100% profits going to TUSP.
We are looking for someone with skills and experience in all things to offer strategic and operational support in engaging, informing and motivating existing and potential individual and corporate customers. This will help us reach a wider audience, generate revenue both for the NGO and the coffee producers, and ultimately expand the scope of our activities: more school construction and more educational capacity building in rural Uganda. Examples of work involved would be:
- Social media channel engagement and analytics
- Product photography
- Newsletter drafting and analysis
- Website analytics
- Canva / designing
- Copywriting
- Research into the potential for specialty coffee to be a vehicle for rural livelihood development
- Google Adwords / SEO
- Video editing
- Researching and identifying potential corporate/community partners through marketing activities (e.g. through LinkedIn)
We are looking for someone 'hands-on', with some time to spare for operational support in this area - approx 1-3 hours a week (but this is very flexible and can be discussed). Knowledge of the Specialty Coffee sector and/or knowledge of Uganda's context would be valuable, but not essential. Sensitivity to the ethics of storytelling, imagery and use of language in the context of international development is essential.
Position would be 100% remote.
Successful candidates will receive the necessary training, onboarding and ongoing support needed to carry out their role effectively.
The role is voluntary but any out-of-pocket expenses will of course be reimbursed.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who has previous experience in:
- Social media channels management
- Newsletter drafting and analysis
- Product photography
- Canva / graphic designing
- Copywriting/Content creation
- Website design and analytics (Squarespace, Shopify)
- International Development & Specialty Coffee knowledge a bonus
What difference will you make?
Your support will help us engage, educate and motivate our existing and potential customers and other stakeholders, helping us reach a wider audience and ultimately expand the scope of our activities: more school construction and more educational capacity building in rural Uganda.
Before you apply
Please send a short message explaining why you're keen on the role, what you can bring to the role and maybe some examples of previous work/experience/skills/. Thank you!
