Job Description
Join our Inverness Tool Library (ITL) team as a volunteer librarian, helping members of the public access tools at an affordable cost while contributing to reducing waste!
What will you be doing?
Our volunteer Tool Librarians help to organise and update our digital record of the tools in stock andthat come in via donations to the tool library, help to maintain a record of known maintenance requirements and oversee loan and return of tools to members of the tool library. We also run workshops for the public on how to use tools safely.
What are we looking for?
- Friendly manner with the public when dealing with loans and returns
- Data entry skills. Librarian / database management experience.
- Workshop delivery skills also desirable.
- Able to organise and create a welcoming library space.
- Trustworthy and reliable.
What difference will you make?
Inverness Tool Library has been established as a lending library of tools and other things to provide the local community with access to tools to retrofit their homes at a more affordable price and live more sustainable lives. We also aim to:
- to raise awareness of the circular economy
- to deliver workshops in use, repair and reuse
- to educate people in the safe use of tools
- to promote the making and crafting of items for leisure and practical use
Our services are for the people of Inverness and surrounding area - the tool library and workshops aim to provide access to tools and to build confidence, knowledge and expertise in repair and reuse in the local community.
