Social Media Lead
- Reach Volunteering
- Part Time
- Gerrards Cross

Job Description
Developing our profile on social media is the aim of this volunteer role. We seek a volunteer with experience in marketing and communications, including the development of communications through social media utilising Linkedin.
What will you be doing?
Historically based in South Buckinghamshire, we are a small, well established registered charity which has been running for 35 years. We are an entirely self help group providing job search advice and support to unemployed professionals, managers and graduates.
Applicants for this social media role can be based anywhere in the UK because all the work will be online with online contact with others in the Careers Springboard team............primarily via Zoom.
Since March 2020 our presentations, coaching and meetings have been virtual via Zoom, thus allowing us to widen our potential market. Up to 100 job seekers participate in our Monday evening Zoom meetings.
We now need someone with at least 3 years of social media experience to help us improve and expand our profile on social media to ensure that beneficiaries, job seekers and funders are aware of our services.
Social media will be an important marketing tool to be developed. The volunteer can start by highlighting the profile of Careers Springboard on LinkedIn.
Preferred candidates will have experience with Linkedin as a platform, an understanding of Linkedin Analytics, experience using Canva, plus passion and enthusiasm for content creation which generates positive impact.
We currently have a team of only 3 volunteers working on our social media profile. Our aim is to expand this team in order to extend our exposure on social media.
The role will include content planning, performance analysis, content creation, daily monitoring and re-posting,
As our social media lead, the key responsibilities will be to work closely with our social media volunteers, plan and schedule the monthly Linkedin content, to track and analyse engagement metrics, monitor network events, highlight our presenters, use Canva templates to ensure brand consistency.
What are we looking for?
We are seeking a volunteer who has social media ability / experience to help us to raise our profile.
Proven success through maximising the use of social media will be expected. Experience of working in a voluntary capacity and voluntary environment will be an advantage.
We want the volunteer social media lead to know how to align our social media efforts with the services and operations available via Linkedin Analytics.
The social media volunteer will have the capacity to plan and work alone but with guidance and recommendations from other members of the social media team and from some of the 7 trustees who manage the charity.
Living in the South Bucks area will be an advantage but is definitely not essential.
Success will be measured by the rate of job seekers joining us via social media contact.
What difference will you make?
We want to become more well known within the community and more widely. Currently our beneficiaries find us through recommendation or referral. We want to utilise social media to expand our visibility, relevance and impact in order to attract more job seekers to our weekly virtual Zoom meetings.
Unemployment can be isolating. It can damage confidence and self esteem, impacting not only the financial but emotional stability of those involved. We have the capacity to support more people through our services. Your work with social media would enable us to do that by increasing awareness.
The success of your social media efforts would be visible weekly as more job seekers join us and benefit from our services.
Careers Springboard will expect our volunteer social media lead to work with the other volunteers in our social media team creating engaging content on a weekly basis, creating a marketing plan for our Linkedin content, liaising with trustees and others within the Careers Springboard charity.
Experience and understanding of how social media can work successfully for a small charity such as Careers Springboard will be a major advantage for applicants.
Before you apply
We do not have a formal application form. Applicants should respond to the descriptions, explanations and expectations of the role as laid out above.
Applications will be considered by one of our 7 trustees. Initial interviews will be virtual via Zoom.
If successful at the initial stage, the applicant will then be interviewed by 2 or 3 other trustees.
Any appointment of the volunteer social media lead will be decided on by the Executive Committee of trustees.
