Trustee to join our small & friendly team and help us to help others.

We're seeking Trustees to join our long established small charity, to provide succession for future changes on our Board. Skills in Marketing and IT would be helpful but not essential.

The Bhs Trust Fund provides financial relief to former employees of BHS Ltd, the High Street retailer, who ceased trading in 2016. Our main challenge is to reach to former employees who are struggling to cope with bills, debts and day to day needs. There are often associated well-being concerns which we endeavour to support in addition.

There are 000s of former Bhs employees, given the Company employed up to 12,000 employees at any given time, many of whom may not be aware that the Bhs Trust Fund still exists. We promote ourselves through social media and to a lesser extent via direct mail.

We have an existing Board of 8 Trustees including our Chair, all of whom have worked for Bhs at some stage in their career. We're keen to appoint individuals with different backgrounds, as we feel they would bring new insights and experience to our team, which we would welcome!

We are seeking individuals with management experience and strong team working skills. The ability to fully contribute to our activities and decisions is imperative. Experience in retail may help with understanding the home circumstances of our beneficiary base, many of whom have worked in relatively low pay roles, and faced challenges in securing retail employment due to the economic climate.

Specialist Marketing & Communication skills would be an asset given reaching new individuals to help is a core objective. A strength in IT skills would also be helpful in optimising our operational efficiencies. But we're open to considering candidates from a broad range of backgrounds.

As part of our small team of Trustees, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our long term direction and take specific responsibility for a key strategic strand, once established in your role.

Supporting individuals in need is our core charitable purpose and is the most rewarding aspect of the role. As a Trustee, you will input to and approve the support we provide and given we collect feedback from our beneficiaries, you will see the positive impact we make to individuals' lives.
