Job Description
V.L.A.D. Outreach CIC is looking for Wellbeing/Debrief Officers, creating a pastoral team to support our Crisis Support Workers following contact with those who are in crisis, and offering support for any staff as needed.
What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitation of Debriefing Sessions: conduct structured debriefing sessions Crisis Support Workers to discuss their role, its impact, and coping mechanisms; use a systematic approach to explore facts, thoughts, feelings, and sensory impressions related to the Crisis Support Worker; ensure that discussions remain constructive.
- Emotional Support: provide reassurance and normalise emotional responses that a Crisis Support Worker and the wider team may have; offer a safe, confidential space for Crisis Support Workers and the wider team to share their experiences and emotions without fear of judgement.
- Pastoral Care and Emotional Guidance: address existential concerns or emotional challenges that may arise, such as feelings of guilt, fear, or confusion; provide empathetic support to help Crisis Support Workers and the wider team. make sense of experiences in their role in a way that fosters healing.
- Monitoring and Follow-Up: conduct follow-up meetings regularly to assess ongoing emotional and psychological well-being; identify specific Crisis Support Workers and the wider team at risk for delayed stress responses.
- Education and Coping Strategies: educate individuals on recognising signs of emotional and stress-related symptoms; offer practical advice on coping mechanisms to help manage stress in the short and long term.
- Boundary Management: maintain clear boundaries to ensure ethical pastoral care, avoiding overstepping into clinical psychological roles.
- Holistic Care: address the psychological, social, and emotional aspects of recovery, integrating these dimensions into debriefing sessions for comprehensive support.
This role requires sensitivity, active listening skills, and the ability to provide emotional care tailored to individual needs while maintaining professionalism and ethical boundaries.

Full training will be provided for this role.
