Job Description
We're looking for experienced youth workers to join Weston-super-Mare Sea Cadets, helping to teach our young people new skills for life!

What will you be doing?
Do you enjoy mentoring and inspiring young people?
Are you passionate about helping the next generation develop skills, confidence and leadership abilities?
As a Youth Worker and Cadet Instructor, you will play a vital role in delivering fun, engaging and educational activities to help cadets thrive. You'll lead sessions that promote personal development, teamwork and maritime skills while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver a variety of activities and lessons, including leadership, navigation and water-based skills
- Act as a mentor and role model for cadets, providing guidance and encouragement
- Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all cadets during training and events
- Collaborate with other volunteers to plan and execute unit events and programs
- Monitor the progress and development of individual cadets, providing feedback and support as needed

- Prior experience working with children/young people or in a specific skill area
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Enthusiasm for working with young people and helping them reach their potential
- Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons or activities
- Commitment to promoting a safe and inclusive environment
- The ability to recognise the different needs and abilities of each young person

- Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete our application form
- Successful candidates will be required to undertake a DBS check and complete some short training as part of your induction including in Safeguarding, Health & Safety and Data Protection
