Shop Team Leader (Hythe)

Save The Children

Job Description

This is a great role to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in with lots of interesting tasks. Our shops are brilliant for involving their local communities, whether its volunteering, donating or spending their money!

You'll be helping with the daily running of the shop and supporting the shop volunteers. Induct new volunteers, which basically means showing them all the different tasks they'll be doing such as how to sort through donations, steam, hang and price goods. You'll also be showing them how to use the till, process Gift Aid and the more formal stuff like health and safety and safeguarding.

Other bits and pieces you'll be doing is cashing up and banking the day's takings, opening or closing the shop and looking after the rota so as many shifts are covered by the volunteers.

It's really important the shop team create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, so customers keep coming back. You'll be helping the volunteers make the shop look appealing and attractive, so they can create beautiful window and shop displays which will get more people through the door and more customers spending their money! The more money we raise, the more children we can help living in the UK and around the world. Previous management and or retail experience is helpful but not essential.

Because you'll be looking after the shop volunteers it would be fantastic if you could volunteer for a least six months for one shift a week, which is about four hours. You won't be on your own as your regional retail manger is only a call away and they'll be popping in to the shop to catch up with you. If you're over 18 and can rise to the challenge, then click 'Apply' to complete the application.
