Southern Co-op is a large, regional co-operative operating across the south of England. Our main business is food where we have a network of over 250 convenience stores. We also offer end of life services which includes funeral homes, crematoria, woodland and natural burial grounds and a dedicated bereavement care team. We’re also a franchisee of Starbucks coffee offering a number of drive thru, in town and out of town coffee shops.
Our food stores and funeral homes are licensed to use the green/lilac Co-operative brand but we operate as an independent business with a fantastic team of 4,000+ colleagues and an annual turnover in the region of £450m.

Customer Service Assistant
Working as a customer service assistant means you’ll be at the heart of local life and the person that our customers recognise and remember. You’ll be serving customers, re-stocking products and keeping the store looking great. With a wide range of work patterns available, you’ll hopefully find the hours that suit.
Duty Manager
Supporting our store manager, our duty managers spend most of the time on the shop floor identifying opportunities to improve the store experience for our customers. You’ll help build key community relationships through our Love Your Neighbourhood scheme and be able to run all aspects of the store operation in the absence of the store manager.
Funeral Service Operative
They help with funeral preparations and assist on the day of the funeral itself, ensuring everything runs smoothly. It’s a role that calls for a high level of understanding, empathy and compassion but is a highly rewarding role where we’ll support you to become qualified in funeral operations and services.
Funeral & Memorial Consultant
Our funeral & memorial consultants support families during a difficult time assisting them in organising a fitting tribute for their loved ones. You’ll need to be compassionate and understanding and we’ll support you with all the training and development you need.
