Over the past eight weeks, I’ve introduced two interesting new beauty gadgets into my daily skincare routine. Here’s the first part of my journey.
I was given the Foreo LUNA 3 Facial Cleansing Brush for Christmas, and it sat unopened in my draw for nearly two months. I had always considered any beauty gadget rather a faff, and yet another thing to find a space in my bathroom cabinet for.
And anyway, what was wrong with my usual microfibre cloth and gentle facial soap combo?
So, once in the mood to at least give it a go, I viewed some YouTube videos – not only by the makers of Foreo themselves, but also several beauty bloggers.
These films not only give you the knowledge on how your gadget works, but very useful tips and feedback from those who have been using it.
Facial cleaning brushes have been around for some years now. However, they can trap dirt and bacteria as well as being too harsh on the skin. The LUNA provides a much-needed upgrade and boasts ultra-hygienic medical grade silicone bristles for effective cleaning that respects the natural skin barrier. The device is available in 3 colours, perfectly tailored for different skin types.
The LUNA 3 synchronises with an app via Bluetooth. This I know will immediately stop some people in their tracks, BUT I promise that it is very simple to set up, and once done, you have the opportunity to customise the duration of the clean and the intensity etc. I haven’t bothered to fiddle with the settings, and so it is simply morning and evening – press (twice) and go!
It’s 100% waterproof, so you can take it into the shower and use there if preferred. Dampen your face, and either apply your favourite cleanser to the LUNA 3, or I prefer to rub my cleanser into my face first before pressing the ’start’ button twice. You use the device in circular motions over your face until the built-in timer shuts it off (2 minute setting is recommended).
The buzzing when it’s in use gives the sensation of a facial massage. Apart from cleaning, facial massage can help remove excess fluid, reduce puffiness and improve the absorption of your skincare products.
Once done, I rinse both the LUNA 3 and my face and it sits on my bath edge ready to go again.
My skin is definitely cleaner from using this system and I would not return to just using a microfibre cloth. It simply would not clean my skin as efficiently.
The LUNA 3 usually costs £169. Shop around, as there are lots of discounts being offered at the moment. For example AllBeauty have them for £107 with free Royal Mail tracked delivery. MORE INFO
I use the pink coloured model for ’normal’ skin, as although I can suffer from redness and breakouts, my skin is pretty tough and resilient.
I am currently loving using Dr Sam Bunting’s Flawless Cleanser £16 with my LUNA 3. It’s an uncomplicated and effective jelly cleanser specifically formulated to be suitable for acne-prone, grown up skin.
Look out for my second beauty gadget review next week
