Drink warm water with lemon juice when you wake, take coconut oil, don’t eat sugar, learn a language or a musical instrument to stave off dementia, try Pilates or Yoga to keep supple…..the list is endless. That is all before you take all the traditional medical advice i.e. breast scans, cervical smears, Woman well-being tests – it is a constant battle to stay young and fit.
Of course I should finally mention all the anti-ageing treatments like botox, laser peels, face-lifts, miracle creams, face massage tools, facialists with miracle hands – all of these we have written about on our website and will continue to do so. But the reality is I have started to not care about wrinkles or sun spots, drooping eyelids or eyebrows, muffin tops and bingo wings because they are all superficial. What I really care about is keeping my mind and body fit and healthy. We have also written about #womenover50 that we admire as true icons, many of which are being used to advertise cosmetic ranges – Helen Mirren for L’Oreal, Charlotte Rampling for Nars – and others we simply love for their style, such as Judi Dench and Ines de la Fressange. But today I want to add a few new icons to this list of admirable women and I would even go so far as to say I might put them at the top of the list…….
Paddy Jones
She retired to Spain, took up salsa and aged 75 years performed with her 35 year old coach, Nico on Britain’s Got Talent. Thanks to You Tube we can all watch her dancing (ignore some of the You Tube postings which say that it is Ginger Rogers aged 92). I don’t think I could have danced like that at 25 let alone 75, not without the help of a lubricant!

Jean Phelps Veloz
I am off to find my local salsa class but then again maybe jive if I want to get those hips swinging like this 90 year old! She is some sexy lady and any man would enjoy to dance with her!
Johanna Quass
And finally the oldest female gymnast, who is 86 and shown here performing two routines that have been in the Guinness Book of Records.
So time to get off my bottom sitting in front of my computer and go out and get my body moving!
