Why choose Total Orthodontics?

“A dentist with a ‘Smile’ in more ways than one, I have received excellent service, having chosen to have my teeth straightened at the age of 65, I thought this would be a hard process, it was all so easy, appointments were on time (easy to fit with work), telephone conversations thereafter were very engaging, the whole process has taken 18 months will six monthly check ups – if you are thinking of regaining your smile, I would highly recommend the team.”

How your first appointment works

STEP 1

Assessment

Your orthodontist will carry out a clinical examination of your teeth and jaw to review your orthodontic needs. They may take X-rays of your teeth during the appointment. This helps your orthodontist decide if you’re suitable for treatment and which type is best for you.

STEP 2

Outcomes

Once they’ve assessed your teeth, your orthodontist will let you know the outcome of the assessment. There are generally two possible outcomes, which are:

1. You’re ready for treatment and need to decide whether to go ahead

2. Your dental health might need improving, which may be due to tooth decay. Your orthodontist will recommend you visit your general dentist to get the issues sorted, and they’ll see you again when things have improved

STEP 3

Your options

If you’re ready to start treatment, they’ll talk you through everything you need to know so you can make an informed decision. This includes your treatment options, the pros and cons of each treatment, how long your teeth straightening might take and the costs involved.

STEP 4

Any questions

You’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have. Having your teeth straightened is a big decision and you need to make sure it’s the right one for you. If you need time to think, you can take home all the information and let them know if you’d like to proceed.

* Free consultations are to discuss options and suitability for treatment. Free Consultations are subject to availability and available at participating practices only before 31/12/2024. You may require a more in-depth clinical examination or diagnostic tests before treatment options can be discussed. There may be a charge for such examination or test, payable by you. The clinician will discuss this with you before any such examination or test takes place, which may be done during the same appointment as your free consultation.
