Transitional fashion is super practical. You’ll always feel just right temperature-wise if you are able to peel something off or add another layer. Which, let’s face it, is pretty essential with the erratic weather we’re encountering lately. 21 degrees one minute, downpours the next. I’m also a fan of transitional fashion because, unlike Summer wear, Autumn/Winter clothes are far kinder to my various lumps and bumps!
So what are your best transitional wardrobe friends? One essential item has to be a roll neck jumper. Classically versatile, it looks great under a trench coat, blazer, sleeveless knitted vest or a dress. If you opt for neutrals, remember to vary the textures
Another winner, as I am sure you already know, is a crisp white shirt which works all year round.

An updated cardigan is always handy. I say updated because some designs can be less than flattering! These three youthful styles should do the trick. A few ideas on how to keep warm at home…
As I work from home and can’t afford to keep the central heating running all day, you’ll always find me wearing a Heatgen™ Thermal Body from M&S – keeps you warm and looking less lumpy! Then I add a crew neck tee under my jumper.
If it’s really nippy, I reach for a scarf. Gilets – wonderful things, perfect for slinging on when there’s a nip in the air. Another chance to add a bit of colour is this Taylor faux fur gilet from Cotton Traders for example.
And I love a poncho because you just sling it on and instantly look stylish. Everyone has to have at least one! Organic cotton cashmere pom pom poncho £69 from The White Company.
In between a puffa and a shirt is the shacket. Beaufort & Blake’s Eythorne Multi Check version for example £89. Gorgeous.

Denim is seemingly always on trend and it’s easy to see why. Practical and seems to suit everyone, it looks pretty cool over a maxi dress. Or try wearing one over a chunky sweater, floaty maxi skirt and boots. Dark Indigo Crop denim jacket from Mint Velvet £99.
