LOL, we all remember the seductively voiced TV ads of twelve years ago. You may have seen the new ad where customers talk of M&S food in a similarly reverential tone. Very funny but, like the tempting food that M&S offers, the underlying message is the same – quality. Quality is also the hallmark of another M&S product range – their 100% sustainably sourced cotton.
In 2009 M&S became a pioneering member of the Better Cotton Initiative along with WWF and other leading organisations. Since then around 16,000 farmers have been supported to use more sustainable farming methods – including using less water, fewer pesticides and less fertiliser.
Now, if our upcoming summer is going to be anything as hot as last year, we need to revert to natural fibres to keep us looking and feeling cool. OK, I know it’s not baking quite yet, but I, for one, do not wish to be swathed in ubiquitous polyester when the time comes. So let’s transition into Summer with a few updates. Here’s a flavour of what’s on offer:
Last week, we visited the flagship M&S store in Marble Arch to check out what was new and interesting. We found an entire trolley load! Here’s Annabel wearing the Tapered Leg Chinos £19.50 which are available in no less than nine colours.
Slogan tees are pretty cool at the moment and the good news is that they are something we can all wear with aplomb. Do What You Love, Love What You Do Printed Straight Fit T-Shirt £6.50
For info: Worn with longline blazer and wide fit leather tassel loafers in Nude (the shoes, not Annabel).
Loving this Muse slogan tee too… £19.50
Annabel chose this pretty collarless shirt for me and I was delighted to try it on. Beautifully fine fabric and a pretty floral pattern. £25. Per Una have definitely upped their game this year – less boho, more chic.
For info: Worn with longline pure linen button detailed blazer
Here’s a really versatile piece – dress it up, dress it down. Wardrobe staple for sure. Tie Waist Midi Shirt dress £39.50 Exclusively online.
The Breton is a very easy way to look stylish and this long sleeved striped tee with a contrast neck trim will serve you well worn on its own or under a blazer. £19.50
Mustn’t forget our men. This striped Oxford shirt is a snip at £25 and features a new and improved fit.
A polo shirt will look equally good on your husband or your son and at £15 we can afford to treat them both! Colourwise you are spoilt for choice with 22 options.
