Is it time to reach for our knitwear now that Autumn is around the corner?

September 6, 2021

This article was written for Annabel & Grace, which is now part of Rest Less.

It is always so hard to accept that those sunny days of al fresco eating, sipping chilled rosé, long evening walks are over until the Spring. This summer has not been the best, but still, we have made the most of holidays in the UK, staycations with the family at home and some of us have sneaked off for a few days abroad armed with our NHS certificate of vaccination and PCR tests booked for our return. It is a whole new world but one we will embrace, and it will become our new norm.

However, for certain, we will be reaching for our knitwear in the next few weeks. I have to admit to having been wearing it now and then during this summer. Nothing beats a cosy cashmere sweater to keep you warm. So Grace and I have been looking at some of the new knitwear ranges, always keeping in mind that we still need stylish clothes for the over fifties.

MISTY CASHMERE

Misty Cashmere is based in a small village near Lewes in the heart of the Sussex Downs, whilst their knitwear is made in the foothills of the Himalayan range. As with many fashion companies in the current climate, they are very aware that they need to be sustainable.

So Misty Cashmere take great care about all elements of their knitwear down to the smallest detail. The buttons they use are either made from coconuts or from ‘mococha’, which fall to the ground naturally from the Tagua tree in the rainforests of Equador and are made into corozo buttons.

I first met Misty Cashmere at the Early, Early Christmas Fair at Tidworth, Hampshire and ended up buying jumpers for myself and my husband, which we wear, wash and wear again, and they still look as good as new.

Misty Cashmere uses cashmere, yak, and merino – each with their own natural properties – to bring you pieces that should last for years!

MISTY CASHMERE MISSION STATEMENT

So Grace and I were thrilled when Chloe, the founder of Misty Cashmere, approached us with the offer of a discount code for our readers.

The 10% discount code is A&G10

Here are some of the pieces from the Autumn 2021 collection that we fell in love with but do pop to the Misty Cashmere website to view the full range.

Of course there is lots of other knitwear from other brands but Misty Cashmere is a new brand for A&G so we wanted

OTHER BRANDS

I try hard to resist looking at the Me+Em website as there is so much for us older women. However this jumper, the Merino Stretch Tipping Jumper (£95) is a great transitional season piece.

It is crafted from lightweight 14gg superfine merino wool with a 13% stretch content. The dense knit of the yarn means there is no transparency and it won’t pill, bag or fade. In this picture you can’t see the back which is an olive colour. There is also another colourway, Marmalade and cream – if you love orange then this is the one for you!

Have a browse of the Me+Em knitwear range as there is so much to choose from and we consider their clothing to be investment buys as they last for ever.

Click HERE to go to the Me+Em knitwear page.

Here are my pick of some of our other favourite brands – BODEN, CHARLI, SILVER PINK, COS, SWEATY BETTY, JOHN SMEDLEY & MANGO

Keep warm and cosy in these knits. For more of our Fashion articles click HERE.
