Our readers have often asked us to feature some articles on medical issues. However, we have never tackled this popular topic as we are not qualified. However, we recognise that as we get older, our good health or lack of it becomes a significant part of our focus. These last two years have highlighted how important it is to try and keep as healthy as possible so that we are ready for whatever nature throws at us.
Therefore, we are thrilled to be welcoming Dr Hana Patel onto our team of contributors. She is exceptionally well-qualified, and as the weeks go past, she will try to tackle as many health issues as possible, but please do let us know if there is any health problem you would like her to focus on. She is also available for one-to-one consultations, the details of which are below.
Hello, my name is Dr Hana Patel, and I am a registered senior general practitioner (GP), a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners (FRCGP) who works for both the National Health Service (NHS) and the private sector. During the last 17 years of working within the NHS, I have worked as a GP principal, sessional doctor, a University lecturer in general practice, a forensic medical examiner, an expert witness, an educationalist for the Care Quality Commission (CQC), NHS England and the General Medical Council (GMC).
Throughout my career so far, the two areas that have stood out for me are working as a GP and an Executive Business and Life Coach. I now feel fortunate that I can focus my career in these two fields and enjoy a dual career using my passion for helping others both as a doctor and a Coach. Unfortunately, after the Covid- 19 pandemic, it has been difficult for most of my patients to have access to medical professionals, so I hope this regular column will indicate whether any particular symptoms that you need to be seen by your registered general practitioner.
I am excited to be introduced as the new resident doctor at Annabel & Grace and hope to meet some of you at an Instagram Live event soon. I will be writing about common and topical issues that I have seen in my weekly clinic, and if readers would like me to write an article on anything specific, please do request this in the comments section below this article. So over the next few months, I am hoping to remind us to get our partners, friends and relatives to see their GP about potential prostate issues, discuss ways to manage sleep issues and a topic that is very popular in the media at the moment- the menopause!
I enjoy hearing from readers and would be happy for you to send me a message via A&G or on my private email. My Private clinical practice is currently at Women’s Health Dulwich, and I offer both remote and face to face Coaching sessions in my private consulting room in South London.
Coaching is becoming a mainstream approach to looking at the personal life, relationships, career and health goals. Coaching is becoming more popular; it is difficult to know if a coach is accredited, has insurance, is regulated by a professional body, or engages in regular supervision and educational practice.d
My passion for coaching has led to my current role of coaching and mentoring colleagues within the NHS. I hold a lead role for Coaching and Mentoring in Primary Care for South East London, and I am training to become a Coaching Supervisor for registered Coaches. I am a member of the Association for Coaching (AC) and the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). I also Coach clients recommended to me by existing clients both in the UK and internationally and am currently taking on private Coaching clients. Don’t hesitate to contact me personally to explore how we can work together:
