Embedded Electronic Systems Design & Development Engineer (Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship)

Start date: September 2025

Location: Great Baddow, Chelmsford

Role profile

You will undertake a Degree Apprenticeship in Embedded Electronic Systems Design and Development, experiencing the academic part of the programme in the form of a BEng degree undertaken at Essex University, and spending the 'vacations' working in our engineering teams at Great Baddow.

You will develop the skills to design and develop state-of-the-art software, firmware or electronics while working with bright, enthusiastic and committed people in one of our small client-focussed engineering teams.

Who are we looking for?

  • Highly motivated with a strong academic background in STEM subjects at A level or equivalent, this can be BTEC, Advanced Apprenticeship or Degree.
  • An interest or experience in Space related subjects
  • An aptitude for problem-solving and expanding knowledge
  • Broad interest in electronics technology
  • Ability to learn quickly and sometimes working to challenging deadlines

Entry Requirements

  • A minimum of 96 UCAS points gained via STEM A-Level qualifications or equivalent (eg. BTEC)
  • Plus at least 5 GCSEs at grade A*- C / Level 4-9, including Mathematics, English and ICT.
  • Eligible for a Government Security Clearance

Security Clearance

Only those with the permanent and unrestricted right to live and work in the UK will be considered for a position within BAE Systems Digital Intelligence.
