Online Marketplace Assistant

£11.79 per hour +benefits

Reports to: Marketplace Team leader

Directorate: Marketing, Fundraising & Engagement

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time 35 hours per week

Location: Onsite at Bates Industrial Estate, Harold Wood, Romford, RM3 0HX (Monday-Friday)

As part of Cancer Research UK's Retail & Ecommerce Growth Strategy, we opened our first Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) in 2023, and are proud to have recently opened a second, even bigger site.

We're looking for an Online Marketplace Assistant to join Cancer Research UK's Online Marketplace team in the Romford Online Marketplace Hub and Centre of Excellence. Our Online Marketplace Team sort, identify, value, photograph, and list items for sale on our online marketplace platforms (e.g., eBay, Depop, Vestiaire and ASOS). As an Online Marketplace Assistant you'll be trained in all aspects of the online marketplace (including stock receipt, discovery, photography, and listing products across all online marketplace sites). You'll also support the dispatch element of the process, which includes picking, packing and preparing customer orders for dispatch. however, this role will be part of the Hub's clothing team with a predominant focus on end-of-line and donated fashion and textile stock. In this role specifically your main focus will be sorting and organising the donated stock we receive but, you will also have to chance to assist in other areas when needed.

What will I be doing?

  • Unpacking deliveries and sorting donated items into the correct categories.

  • Researching items to check if the value meets the requirements for sale online.

  • Creating accurate descriptions of each item to enable accurate and enticing listings.

  • Creating high-quality item listings for Cancer Research UK's online shop across a range of platforms (e.g. eBay, Depop, Vestiaire, and ASOS).

  • Operating within our brand and photography guidelines to give a consistent look and feel to each marketplace listing.

  • Working to agreed daily targets.

  • Picking, packing, and sorting sold items within the Dispatch department.

  • In some cases will be able to support the end-to-end process of reviewing stock, photography, listing and dispatch.

What are you looking for?

  • Background in working in fast-paced environments that involve stock processing (e.g. retail, ecommerce, hospitality, logistics, warehousing, etc).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to support customer service queries

  • Experience working to meet targets/ KPIs with excellent time management.

  • Excellent eye for detail with a proven ability to work effectively under pressure whilst maintaining high standards.

  • Proficient IT and administrative skills (including Microsoft Packages and data entry in Excel).

  • Shopiago software would be beneficial but is not essential meaning we welcome applicants without this experience.

  • An interest in or previous experience with fashion or non-fashion (i.e. jewellery, accessories, antiques, or collectables, brands etc).

  • Experience buying or selling on online marketplaces either in a personal or professional setting (e.g., eBay, Depop, Vestiaries, ASOS etc) would be beneficial but is not essential meaning we welcome applicants without this experience.
