Job Description

Grade A - £52,737 (National Framework) or £58,139 (London Framework - if you are London office based or homebased and live within the boundary of the M25) - There is also an additional homeworking allowance of £553 per annum for those working from home

Contracted Hours: Full time 37 hours per week

Contract Type: Secondment or Fixed-term opportunity until 31st March 2026 (we would welcome people joining us on secondment from their current organisation*) 

*To join us on secondment you will need to be employed by a public sector organisation: NHS, Civil Service, Local Government Authorities, arms-length-bodies and public sector employers.  Please ensure you have permission from your current employer to be released on secondment before you apply.

Location: Home-based, with travel to meetings / training as required

With the introduction of the Health and Care Bill, CQC have new powers regarding assessment of how local authorities (LAs) deliver their duties under Part 1 of the Care Act. These new powers will support us to deliver on our new strategy to look at how care is provided by a local system, delivers on what is important for people using the services and reduces inequalities in their care. This will be an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of the health and care landscape.

We are looking for a Business Manager to join our Local Authority Assessment Team to help us to deliver our programme of assessments of local authorities in England.

You will manage the delivery of key programmes of Local Authority (LA) Assessment activity, providing support to the director and deputy directors to ensure smooth running and effective performance of the LA assessment programme. In this key role you will coordinate and support delivery of business plan, performance reporting and risk management.

You'll also provide effective support to the relevant Director and Deputy Directors in their day-to-day work to ensure the smooth running and effective performance of the assessment programme.

What you will bring...

We are looking for someone with experience of working within management Assurance, risk management, change management and corporate governance frameworks.

You will have an ability to demonstrate or build an in-depth knowledge of CQC, with a strong focus on local authorities, and explain links with other associated organisations.

With the ability to coach and develop colleagues, you'll be a skilled communicator able to engage and negotiate positive outcomes with staff, service users and stakeholders at every level.

You must be well organised with the ability to respond flexibly to changing priorities and deliver to challenging timescales.

IT literate, you'll be familiar with all the MS packages.
