Job Description
This post, based at the British Embassy in Paris, offers an exciting opportunity to deliver tangible international relations and trade benefits to Wales while working in the dynamic French business environment.The post holder will manage the Welsh Governments approach to identifying, developing and delivering new foreign direct investment and trade opportunities in France. It requires the generation and pursuit of FDI target lists and delivery of marketing propositions. Success will be measured through the identification of quality leads, integration into productive business networks, visits of businesses to Wales and securing inward investment projects and trade deals.The post holder will also have responsibility for representing the Welsh Government and furthering Welsh Government interests in areas of devolved policy. In particular this will involve work to capitalise on the legacy of the Wales in France year which concluded in March 2024, supporting Wales bilateral relationships with French regions in particular Brittany, and deepening Wales level of engagement with multilateral organisations based in Paris, in particular UNESCO.It involves working with Wales based strategic partners, and with key stakeholders in France, including HMA Ambassador, DBT France, British Council, Devolved Governments and other Government departments based at the Embassy.The post holder will have line management responsibility for one locally engaged member of staff in Paris and at the commencement of post one Wales-sent member of staff on a short-term attachment. The post holder will report to the Brussels based Head of Europe Network. They will be part of the FCDO (and partner organisations) France network.Regular engagement with senior staff in corporations, intermediaries and wider networks will be required, developing high level contacts across the key sectors. Establishment of close working relationship with DBT and FCDO colleagues will be particularly important.
