Job Description
DIO Technical Services is a multi-disciplinary team which provides technical subject-matter expertise across a wide range of disciplines to support the operation of the Defence estate and land on which the MOD operates, both in the UK and overseas. The Team provides impartial and objective Intelligent Customer Capability to DIO, MOD and wider government, supporting UK Defence outputs world-wide. The specialist skills available through the Technical Services team span construction, engineering, electronic and physical security requirements, safety systems, environmental management, sustainable development, access and recreation, historic environment, and natural environment.The Senior Electrical Engineer (AGL) will be a member of Electrical Infrastructure Team in DIO Technical Services and will support the Head of Electrical Infrastructure Team / Principal Electrical Engineer (PEE), who holds the technical responsibility in the following main areas: The implementation and administration of the MODs Electrical Safe System of Work (JSP375 Volume 3 Chapter 3) including the development of the Safety Rules and Procedures. Assurance on activities on electrical system, equipment, and Safe System of Work Development of policies and technical standards on electrical infrastructure and equipment. Investigation of electrical incidents, accidents, and near misses and, where necessary, publication of safety alerts, technical bulletin, information notes etc. Undertake research & development in support of the above The representation of MOD /DIO on legislative, standardisation, industry, and MOD committees in the UK and abroad.As the Senior Electrical Engineer (AGL); you will be primarily responsible for: Aeronautical ground lighting (AGL) systems and equipment Aeronautical Ground Lighting Control & Monitoring Systems (AGL MCS/CMS) including Safety CasesYour main tasks (but not limited to) will be : Support PEE leading the team/section and function. Ensure AGL CMS & MCS meet the needs of the installed visual aids, net barriers, and traffic light systems. Review and Management of the Safety Case, Configuration Control System and Hazards Logs Provide support to Biennial Airfield Inspection Programme, Review of Inspection Reports; and provide SME support and technical advice on Visual aids and its Control System to the departments in DIO, TLB and stakeholders as required. Where necessary, prepare, issue, and maintain technical publications in AGL and its Control Systems including Technical Standards, Safety Alerts and other form of publications. Undertake assurance activities of AGL assets including AGL Control System, throughout the asset lifecycle, to monitor compliance with legislation, MOD / DIO Policy & Standards, and guidance material. Represent the MOD / DIO on Working Group and Committees or meeting in the UK and abroad.
