We are responsible for developing and strengthening the evidence underpinning policy decisions for the ~20bn the UK government invests in R&D every year. STIA is a multidisciplinary team of over 20 analysts, and we are proud of our commitment to learning and development (L&D). We are considered the best team in DSIT for L&D thanks to the number and range of in-house courses/training we offer, including: Multiple internal seminar series (covering inductions to R&D policy making, knowledge sharing with other analysts, and external speakers),Dedicated data science training (where we teach you to code and apply data science techniques); andSite visits (to see first-hand the research we fund).This is a great opportunity to do work that has a real impact on the lives of UK citizens. You will join an inclusive, encouraging, and dynamic team that not only does interesting analysis, but works with decision makers to ensure insights from analysis lead to impact. The role is reserved for badged Government Analytical Professions (Government Statistician Group, Government Economic Service, Government Social Research Service, Government Operational Research Service). Candidates who are not members must be eligible and willing to take the tests to become a member and those wishing to apply to either the Government Statistical Group or Government Social Research, will need to sit online tests as part of the application process.
