About the groupThe Enterprise and Growth Unit (EGU) promotes sustainable economic growth and higher productivity for the UK. We provide analysis and advice on enterprise, innovation, private sector investment and a cost-effective transition to a low-carbon economy. The Enterprise and Growth Unit has a varied and exciting agenda and we work closely with a wide variety of other teams across the Treasury. We also work alongside other departments and government organisations to ensure that we are thinking creatively, spending wisely, and acting boldly to deliver these goals. These organisations are:the Department for Business and Trade,the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero,the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs,the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology,the Department for Transport,the Department for Culture, Media & Sport,the Competition and Markets Authority,HM Land Registry, andUK Export FinanceAbout the teamThe Infrastructure, Labour Markets and Migration Team is a friendly team of around 20 policy advisors and economists which sits at the heart of the Treasurys economics ministry function.We set the governments overarching strategy for infrastructure by setting spending priorities, supporting more investment, and facilitating improved deliveryWe lead on the development of key institutions such as the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation AuthorityWe lead for HM Treasury on key growth-focused policy areas, including the governments employment and migration policy.About the jobHigh quality infrastructure is crucial for delivering on the governments missions for growth and clean energy, and significant investment will be needed in the coming years to meet the challenges ahead.To facilitate this investment, government will need to provide a clear long-term vision to the private sector about its long-term priorities, set out a project pipeline, and address the significant delivery barriers including complex planning processes, slow decision-making, and low productivity in the construction sector.In this role, you will be pivotal in developing and implementing the UK government's infrastructure strategy. This is a unique opportunity at the heart of government to shape the future of the UKs infrastructure, influencing major projects and investments that will impact the country for decades to come.Key accountabilities:Infrastructure strategy is an area of high importance to the government. The postholder will play a key role in setting the governments infrastructure strategy, working across government and with external industry experts.Key accountabilities for this role include:Support the development of the governments ten-year infrastructure strategy advising ministers on the overall shape and priorities in the strategy, and working closely with the National Infrastructure Commission and Infrastructure and Projects Authority.Project management oversee the credible planning, execution, and delivery of the infrastructure strategy. Regularly report on progress to senior leadership, the Growth Delivery Unit, and the Chancellor.Stakeholder Engagement engage with senior officials, ministers, industry leaders, and external experts to gather input, build consensus, and ensure the strategy reflects a wide range of perspectives. Wider infrastructure policy work collaboratively across the team to consider the links to other infrastructure priorities and institutions, such as creation of the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority, the British Infrastructure Council, and reforms to support investment and improve delivery.Work flexibility across the Infrastructure Strategy branch, supporting and leading on broader elements of the branchs work as the need arises.You will also be encouraged to participate in cross Treasury activities and projects, to help build a more positive, collaborative and inclusive working environment.
