Principal Engineer
Grade 10-12 - £35,745 - £44,428 (Plus MRS of £3000, reviewed annually)
Group Engineer
Grade 13-14 - £45,441 - £50,512 (Plus MRS of £3000, reviewed annually)
The Team
We have exciting new opportunities to join our Highways Contracts team as a Principal and Group Engineer.
As an Engineer for Highways Contracts, you will be working as part of a team who will shape the future operating model of the highway service. You will be working on a new approach to procurement to manage high value contracts to ensure they support the service, council and meet the needs of those that live and work in Kirklees.
You will have professional technical knowledge, experience, and competence to support the delivery of highway and transportation projects across Kirklees. You will be involved in the feasibility, planning, design, procurement, construction, implementation, financial and resource management of highway projects from minor works to large scale, multi-agency transport and public realm scheme.

We are interested to hear from applicants that have:
- Experience of supporting or managing high value contracts in a highways, construction or operational field.
- Experience working within a local authority
- Knowledge on New Engineering Contracts (NEC)
- Experience of compliance and KPI management

At Kirklees Council we offer annual pay rise increments based on your pay grade, ensuring competitive and fair compensation aligned with your role and performance. In these roles there's also the opportunity to move up a pay grade, your manager will review this based on your performance which encourages professional growth and progression.
