About the Role: Are you an experienced commercial leader with a passion for infrastructure and highway projects? We are looking for a Highway Commercial Manager to join our Highway Operations Service. This role is crucial in providing commercial leadership and managing supply chain strategies to ensure cost-effective and efficient delivery of highway projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the commercial team within the Highway Operations Service, supporting the delivery of construction, maintenance, and related tasks on the highway network.
- Develop and implement commercial and supply chain strategies that ensure financial sustainability and value for money.
- Manage contracts and frameworks, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and resolving disputes.
- Provide expert advice on estimating, risk management, and early contractor involvement to de-risk projects.
- Monitor cost performance and implement efficiencies to improve service delivery.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including senior managers, directors, and supply chain leaders.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and sustainability within the team.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Significant managerial experience in a related field, with a proven track record of leading large commercial teams in a construction or highway maintenance environment.
- Extensive experience in designing and implementing commercial strategies to achieve strategic goals.
- Strong understanding of the NEC Suite of contracts and local government financial procedures.
- Ability to manage business plans, financial analysis, and risk management at both business and project levels.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Relevant professional qualification in a related field.
- Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
- NEC Accreditation.
- Experience in a political environment and working with trade unions.
