Job Description

The Digital Durham team are looking for a passionate and driven Digital Engagement Officer to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the delivery of digital inclusion and connectivity interventions, including the successful implementation and evaluation of a project to help create digital hubs in community venues across County Durham. As part of the wider Digital Durham programme, this role will focus on engaging with communities and key stakeholders, to assist in the development, organisation and co-ordination of a range of digital related initiatives and projects. You will pro-actively work with partners across County Durham, source and support communities to utilise any available funding streams that underpin digital related projects and support marketing activities including website management and social media. Being able to engage and effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders, including the general public, is an essential part of the role. Good planning and organisational skills are also vital. WHAT IS INVOLVED? You will work with communities, stakeholders, and partners to ensure the effective delivery of the digital inclusion activities including:
  • Community engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with local community organisations, understanding their digital aspirations, community needs and empowering them to make the most of digital opportunities.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Work closely with internal and external partners to support their digital support delivery in County Durham and build relationships to secure ongoing support.
  • Promotion and outreach: Support the development of marketing and communications plans and materials to raise awareness about digital support through various channels including social media, leaflets, and events.
  • Monitoring and evaluation: Input into action logs, support the management of the project budget and contribute to updates and reports as and when required.

You will be educated to level 4 or equivalent and should have experience of working with community organisations on projects to achieve tangible results. You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and an understanding of digital inclusion challenges and solutions and a willingness to learn. You must be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team. Means of travelling to community organisations across the full county is a must.
