This role is temporary until 31st July 2025, 22hrs per week, term-time only +2 weeks. DurhamLearn works with local communities, a range of voluntary organisations, employers and public health to deliver the training people need to help change their lives for the better. We ensure that provision is local and accessible, with training delivered in more than 100 venues across Durham County. Courses include a broad range of opportunities for personal development, support for health and well-being and the chance to gain skills and qualifications for further education and employment. In June 2023, our provision was graded as 'Good' by Ofsted. WHAT IS INVOLVED? You will assist the SEND Team in delivering DurhamLearn's 'Supported Employment Pathway'; the pathway supports learners to overcome their barriers to learning and gain employment. The role consists of in-class support; learning outside, in the local area; using public transport and other services to improve personal independence skills and assistance to access work experience. All activities are directed by a tutor / the programme lead. You will contribute towards the delivery of a high-quality learning and skills experience through collaborative working and be guided by the SEND Team Programme Lead and Learning Support Co-ordinator. WHAT WILL I NEED? Ideally, applicants will have experience of working with 14yrs+ learners in an educational setting and sound knowledge of ALS/ SEND / LLDD / SEMH. Required qualifications: Level 3 qualification in Specialist Support in Teaching and Learning / CACHE Teaching Assistant or equivalent, including teaching certificate; Level 2 in English and maths, or equivalent qualifications.
