We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking individuals to join our Family Hubs team as Stop Smoking Support Practitioners. We have 3 posts available, temporary for a period of 12 months. 1 x 37 hrs a week based at Newton Aycliffe Family Hub 1 x 37 hrs a week based at Horden Family Hub 1 x 18.5 hrs a week based at Stanley Family Hub The posts are new to our team and will help the service in our efforts to create a Smoke Free Generation as part of the Family Hubs and Start for Life programme by creating and delivering Smoking Cessation support to families with a particular focus on underrepresented and hard to reach communities. WHAT IS INVOLVED? The Stop Smoking Support Practitioner will prioritise work with women and families in the antenatal and postnatal period, supporting those who smoke to set a quit date and quit smoking for good. Key to the role will be raising awareness of the harms of smoking and of exposure to second-hand smoke, including the risks to children. Family Hubs provide a universal 'front door' to families, offering a 'one-stop shop' of family support services across their social care, education, mental health and physical health needs, with a comprehensive Start for Life offer for parents and babies at its core. Essential qualification for this role is a Level 3 qualification in a relevant health and social care field. Previous experience is not essential as all successful candidates will be supported with an in depth induction and training package. You will be trained as an NCSCT certified stop smoking practitioner in order to support the evidence-based delivery of stop smoking services within County Durham. This post is available for all professionals with experience in early help, health and social care, and the wider public health agenda, including those without specific smoking cessation background, as full training will be provided.
